Cohort Dues

Pope Globalization Academy Foundation (PGAF) dues are used to provide many enhancements to Globez students and their classes. Once paid, your family is considered a member of the Foundation.

Globalization Academy Foundation dues are different from the school dues that students pay during Greyhound Madness.

There will be additional charges for field trips and other optional events, but dues will cover most of the smaller events hosted by the Foundation.

Why Should I Donate to the Globalization Foundation?

The Pope Globalization Academy Foundation supports the mission of Pope High School’s Globalization Academy and its faculty, administrators, and students to prepare students to become global citizens for the world’s evolving international community. Becoming a global citizen requires applying classroom learning to real-life experiences. Dues paid to the PGAF help support the experiential elements of the Globalization Academy.

Dues support the following:

Monies paid to the PGAF offset the costs associated with Globalization events and activities: annual grade-level project nights, class trips, curricular classroom support, awards night, and the senior class celebration. Students who paid dues receive discounts on extracurricular Globalization events and a Globalization T-shirt (during their first year in the academy).

  • Globalization Academy dues differ from the school dues for all students that are paid during Greyhound Madness. There may be additional charges for field trips and other optional events, but dues will cover most of the smaller events we host.
  • Globalization Academy Foundation dues are used to provide many enhancements to the classes. Those who pay dues are considered members of the Foundation.
  • All member students receive a free t-shirt, which the students wear when volunteering at Brumby, Books for Africa, or other Academy volunteer activities.
  • Dues cover expenses for the grade-level events and projects. For freshmen, dues cover the entire expense of Global Connections Night. For Sophomores, dues cover the Human Rights Summit project. For juniors, dues cover the ISDS presentation evening and we sponsor a junior field trip to UGA, and while there are fees for the overnight field trip, dues go toward sponsoring a fun evening event while in Athens. For seniors, dues pay for the costs of senior capstone presentation evening, senior class yearbook page, and a graduation party.
  • Dues support freshmen orientation, including providing dinner to the Globalization teachers, the back-to-school picnic, and some of our breakfast events before school.
  • Globalization Academy and ISDS graduation cords are provided to senior members who have earned them at graduation.
  • Dues also pay for our end-of-the-year Awards Reception. Member students can apply for awards in the spring.
  • We help organize and provide light food and drinks at the 8th-grade academy information session for parents and incoming freshman orientation night.
  • We offer the teachers the opportunity to get reimbursed for materials for the Globalization classrooms. For example, recently we have purchased art materials for class projects in literature class and world maps for the history classrooms.
  • We also provide teachers with some color paper at the beginning of the year, which the county no longer provides.
  • In support of the Brumby tutoring program (for kids for whom English is their second language), we typically help pay for a small party that the high school tutors put on for the elementary kids on the last day.
  • Finally, we survey our students for teacher appreciation quotes at the end of the year and include them with gifts of appreciation on behalf of the Globalization cohorts.

Financial Assistance

The Globalization Academy Foundation hopes that all Globez students will have the opportunity to participate in our events. If a student needs financial assistance or fee waivers related to participating in Globalization activities, please reach out to one of your students Globez teachers, Mrs. Barnette, or email PGAF President here to request financial assistance (full/partial/payment plan). We do not want money to come in the way of any Globez student being able to participate.
